About the artist
Marcus Margall creates self-aware, abstract works that structurally as well as thematically reconsider the legacy of the vanguard from Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela. Helio Oiticica’s Metaesquemas footprints are placed over Soto’s foot-print; color degradations suggest a move towards the light of Reveron’s paintings.
Marcus Margall lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Selected past exhibitions include: Between Contingency and Necessity at Negativa Moderna, Archer, FL (2013); Metaphysical Subtleties Matter at Intangible Gallery; Wandering Projects New York – Wandering Western Australia (2008); Ongoing Project in the Field, Wandering Western Australia (2004) ; V Biennial of Guayana at Museo de Arte Moderno Jesus Soto (1997); Espinoza-Margall at Sala Aternativa, Caracas (1997); South of the World at Museo Gallena Civica d’Arte Contemporanea, Marsala, Italy (1991); Project DMZ at Storefront for Art & Arquiteccure, New York, NY (1988); The Debt at Exit Art, New York, NY (1988); Salvaged Altered Everyday Objects at PS1, Long Island City, NY (1984).
