Black and Blue
Acrylic, Gold Leaf, Canvas
About the piece
The interest in this work for me is that the Payne's Grey has lightened the black. The depth of the blue makes the viewer question which side is which. The change in luminosity also tricks us into believing the matte may have traces of blue. The movement and shapes below the suface suggest a boyancy rather than a bruise.
About the artist
Margaret began painting with acrylics in 2000 while she was studying at Culinary school in Vermont. She enjoyed the freedom and emotions of abstract art. Her abstracts are inspired by her minimalist and modern aesthetic and through the exploration of other art forms, developed into what they are today.
