About the piece
Winslow Myers constructs his images from a combination of imagination and reference to the natural world, a kind of "invented naturalism" that allows the artist to alter composition, color, texture, light and space for the sake of making the painting a stronger statement.

About the artist
Winslow Myers earned degrees from Princeton, Boston University, and Queens College, and taught for forty years at Bancroft School, the Rhode Island School of Design, Assumption College, the Brooklyn Museum Art School, the School of the Worcester Art Museum, and the Coastal Senior College. His paintings have been shown at the Berkshire Art Museum, the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Worcester Art Museum, Holy Cross College, and the George Marshall Store Gallery, as well as in solo shows at Yvette Torres Fine Art in Rockland, Round Top Center for the Arts, and the Vermont Studio School.

For the past decade Myers has been working on a series of large diptychs consisting of two canvas panels bolted together, which has allowed him to combine contrasting seasons, weathers, and times of day to create a new whole.
