About the artist
“Helle Crawford works in bronze in the realm of magic realism. Humans and animals find themselves in unusual constellations, conveying existentialistic stories of humour and fate. Strong, virile bulls, powerful ravens and lovesick swans in an expressive imagery of violent dynamic composition, sensuality and imaginativity define her as a tradition conscious yet thoroughly original artist.” by Tom Jørgensen, art critic, editor. Helle Rask Crawford was born in Denmark in 1964. She has studied with sculptor Keld Moseholm and painter Ulrik Hoff. Her background in medicine gives her an insiders knowledge of the anatomy of the human body. This she exploits to the fullest, when creating her expressive and emotive figures. She has had many exhibitions in museums and galleries in Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Germany, the UK, the US and Australia.
