One of many sculptures based upon the "Turtle and Dragon" in which the dragon of humanity resides upon the back of a large turtle.
About the artist
Mike Baur is best known for his architectural scale concrete and steel public sculptures, but is also prolific in smaller scale works. While studying at the University of Illinois (MFA’75) he won an international competition to build a 200-ton concrete sculpture in Barcelona, Spain. Baur’s sculpture can also be found in numerous locations in Illinois and throughout the United States. He has exhibited in numerous museums and outdoor large-scale sculpture venues in the United States and in Europe. Mike was represented by the venerable Sonia Zaks Gallery in Chicago and OK Harris Works of Art in New York until their closing. He is currently represented by Olsen-Larsen Galleries in West Des Moines and MAM in Omaha.
