About the piece
Lively painting in black, yellow, red, and turquoise with fish on the shoulder and bulls on the body, over field of segmented bands. Nal Culture, 2nd Period. Very rare jar this small culture that flourished in the northwest region of the Indus Valley.
While increasingly more and more people have heard of the Indus Valley and its ancient civilization, very few have heard of the smaller towns and villages to the northwest that predated the urban Indus civilization that was centered in Harappa.
Ex- Prominent German private collection, 1980s.
